What is EFT?

EFT or Tapping is an energy psychology which blends Western “talk” therapy with Eastern wisdom about “meridian points” or acupressure. It works on a similar basis as acupuncture, but instead of using needles we tap, with our fingertips on key acupressure points.

The energy meridian system is a bit like an internal map connecting all the different parts of our body. Sometimes blockages can occur in our energy system, leading to negative emotions and restricting our ability to live a harmonious life.

The theory being that negative events that we are exposed to in life can cause a blockage (disruption) in the energy system and as a result negative (sometimes intense) emotions manifest and can get locked into the body. The resulting symptoms can be either emotional or physical. EFT works to clear such disruptions and eliminate the resulting emotional response or intensity to restore emotional harmony and offer relief from physical discomfort.

How Can EFT Help With Stress?

Because EFT accesses your emotions and body simultaneously, it provides powerful stress relief, lowering cortisol levels faster than most traditional and alternative stress relief methods. The comprehensive body / mind stress relief you get from Tapping in minutes, takes hours, weeks, or months to achieve with meditation, yoga, “talk” therapy and other treatments. What are the benefits of EFT?

EFT can be used for a whole range of issues, the list is inexhaustible. However these are some of the known benefits that I have come across in my practice:

  • Relief from physical symptoms or illness
  • Pain management
  • Stress relief
  • Processing anger
  • Overcoming depression
  • Releasing anxiety
  • Help with poor sleep
  • Overcoming procrastination
  • Overcoming fears
  • Reducing feelings of overwhelm

Please note that EFT is not intended to replace medical treatment or advice, but can be used to great effect to compliment treatments from physicians.

Is EFT Right for Everyone?

EFT is very safe to use and for the majority of people it can produce amazing results. However sometimes the tapping can heighten negative emotions or the problem can appear to intensify, and thus newcomers to these techniques are advised to seek support in using this treatment with qualified EFT therapists.

Why use EFT rather than other forms of therapy?

  • It often works where all else has failed
  • It can get to the root of a problem quickly
  • It can help to resolve emotionally charged issues without re-traumatising
  • It is simple to use and can be used as a self help tool between sessions
  • EFT is safe
  • It can be conducted via Skype or telephone, which means geographic location ceases to be a problem
  • EFT works even if you don’t believe it will!

What to Expect During an EFT Session

EFT consultations are for 1 hour.

Face to face sessions are available in Angel, London. Alternatively consultations may be conducted via Skype from anywhere in the world.

We begin a consultation with an exploration of the issue(s) and a discussion of how you could expect to work towards resolving these issues using the techniques.

During the initial consultation you can expect to experience EFT, it’s possibilities and effects.

I have cancer and am searching for natural holistic healing, this includes detoxing of my mind and emotions as well as my body. I knew that cancer originates from some kind of trauma or shock.  I have tried working on this by myself with deep meditations and forgiveness for months before EFT with Jane but nothing shifted or changed.

On my first session Jane made me feel comfortable so it was easy to be open and honest with her.  We explored the possible roots of my issue and used EFT to tap it out. Jane was non judgmental and patient with me. I never expected what came next...

I had an overwhelming emotional release of something that I had suppressed for many years.  I began to cry, no sob, and I didn't stop until a few hours later.  I hadn't cried for years because I had learned to protect myself so well.  It was good to let go and it felt cleansing and refreshing.

I understand that EFT is not necessarily about crying all the time, even though for me, it's what I needed at the time. Subsequent sessions left me smiling and loving myself exactly as I am and gave me a tool that helps me through many different every day issues.

I had tried EFT many years before but never in the simple and effective way that Jane has shown me.” - SC, North London
